inittab respawn equivalent in systemd

Scenario: I'm running a "modern Linux distribution" in which init has been replaced by systemd. My trusty /etc/inittab is gone. But I would like to use it to automatically respawn a daemon automatically when/if it stops running unexpectedly.

Turns out systemd can do this, too. A quick-and-dirty description is available in this forum post.
